Pipe Layer – Heavy Civil Construction in Boston, MA
Boston, MA | $45 - $70/hr | OSHA 10 Required
About the RoleAs a Pipe Layer, you’ll perform hands‑on installation of storm drains, sanitary sewer, water mains, and related underground utilities for roadway and site projects. You’ll work outdoors alongside experienced operators, laborers, and supervisors to ensure every pipe is installed safely, accurately, and up to spec.
This position is essential to our mission of delivering reliable, safe public infrastructure across Massachusetts.
What You’ll Do- Install storm drain, sewer, water main, and other utility piping.
- Set line and grade using lasers, levels, and string lines.
- Prepare trenches, including bedding, shaping, and backfill.
- Assist with trench box/shoring setup and safe removal.
- Align, join, and seal pipe using correct materials and methods.
- Check grades, slopes, and joints for accuracy and integrity.
- Read and interpret plans, trench details, and specifications.
- Maintain safe and compliant work practices (OSHA + project requirements).
- Keep tools organized and equipment in good working order.
- 4+ years of pipe laying experience in heavy civil, roadway, or site work.
- Experience on public agency projects (municipal, DOT, state, or federal).
- Ability to read drawings, understand grade stakes, and install large‑diameter pipe.
- Strong understanding of trench safety, excavation practices, and shoring.
- Team‑oriented mindset and strong communication skills.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Boston, MA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $45.00 - $70.00/hr.
