Maintenance Technician– Role Overview
Markley Properties is looking to add a highly skilled maintenance technician to the team. This person will be responsible for assisting with daily routine maintenance and upkeep of the building, requiring knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and small appliances. The position requires working nights, weekends, holidays, and inclement weather. Shifts sometimes vary depending on company events, tenant tours, and projects. The role is based in Lowell to support internal/external projects when needed.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain a facility‑wide program of repainting areas as required to keep a well‑kept appearance.
- Provide finishing requirements as directed for renovation, maintenance, or construction projects; perform repairs to walls and associated surfaces due to damage or wear to maintain appearance.
- Perform masonry activities, including but not limited to CMU/substrate repairs, retaining wall repairs, and placing new concrete and CMU for projects as needed.
- Maintain an adequate inventory of stock and painting equipment to ensure minimal delay when working from authorized work orders.
- Store all flammable products inside the flammable storage cabinet in the paint shop. Keep the paint shop clean, organized, and free of accumulated trash and combustible debris.
- Follow all product use and warnings identified on product packaging; ensure that all purchased and stocked products have an MSDS on file.
- Complete all assigned tasks with an emphasis on tenant, visitor, and staff safety; eliminate trip hazards and use "wet paint" signs as required.
- Prepare to work with a wide range of people, including team members, laborers, sub‑contractors, and other departments.
- Repair and adjust inoperable doors and hardware.
- Replace/repair damaged or missing ceiling tiles, cove base and carpet repairs, hang boards, pictures, signs, and other wall‑fastened items, and minor furniture repairs.
- Perform general carpentry functions, maintain a professional/safe and clean environment, and participate in projects as needed.
- Perform all aspects of painting.
- Perform off‑site work as needed.
- Support a wide variety of manual labor activities for the team.
- Valid driver’s license
- Reliable transportation
- Ability to operate MEWPs (scissor lifts, boom lifts)
- Snow removal experience
- Ability to perform manual labor
- OSHA 10 certification
- 3‑5 years of commercial painting experience
- Familiarity with Greco and Titan spray guns
- Familiarity with Von Duprin and Corbin Russell door hardware
- General carpentry skills
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
