Position Overview
WORK Inc. is a nonprofit human service provider agency in Dorchester seeking an individual with a disability to perform general maintenance duties at the Barnes Building, 495 Summer St. in South Boston. Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and HVAC is required. The successful candidate will receive case‑management services and will be responsible for assisting in the performance of routine maintenance and repair tasks throughout the building.
Please Note: This position requires that the applicant have a diagnosed disability in accordance with the eligibility criteria outlined by the Ability One Commission.
Responsibilities- Assist in routine maintenance and repair tasks in plumbing, light electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and sheet rocking.
- Use a variety of hand and power tools to complete maintenance work.
- Support the building’s needs by working nights or weekends when required, including snow removal and emergency work.
- Minimum of two years of experience in maintenance or mechanical work.
- Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
- Proficiency in using a variety of hand and power tools.
The position currently pays $27.15 per hour and is a Monday‑through‑Friday full‑time 40‑hour per week schedule. Benefits include fully paid dental, vision, and life insurance; 11 paid Federal holidays; two weeks of paid vacation after one year of employment; and 56 hours of sick time per year.
