Overnight Veteran Services Representative
Position Title: Veteran Services Representative - Overnight
Exemption: Non-Exempt
Hourly Rate: $19.00
Schedule: Friday 11pm-7am, Saturday & Sunday 7pm-7am, Tuesday 11pm-7am
The Veteran Services Representative (VSR) contributes to day‑to‑day operations by following policies, providing customer service to Veterans and staff, and ensuring safety and security of the facility, residents, and staff. VSRs are responsible for documenting, reporting, and notifying related to daily operations. Other duties may include food service, food handling or delivery, basic repair/maintenance, driving, and cleaning. This position is essential personnel and may be required to work during inclement weather and emergencies.
PrimaryResponsibilities
- Enforce Center policies and regulations uniformly
- Ensure a safe, secure environment that supports privacy, dignity, and well‑being of Veteran residents
- Serve as point of contact for Veteran complaints and make corrective action recommendations to the shift coordinator
- Greet guests, staff, and Veterans politely and professionally upon entry
- Attend to the needs of all who frequent or telephone the Center
- Provide support to volunteer and donor events
- Assist the Shift Supervisor with medical, fire, or police emergencies
- Enforce all safety regulations and promptly rectify safety hazards
- Document incidents and events and provide emergent mediation/de‑escalation as required
- Perform building patrols and perimeter tours
- Assume duties of on‑site supervisor in the absence of senior staff
- Staff access points as required, checking s and controlling access
- Report safety or security problems immediately to the Shift Supervisor and follow up with required reports
- Assist in training new staff
- Properly record administrative paperwork while maintaining exceptional confidentiality of Veterans
- Other duties as assigned
- Responsibility for smooth operation of Center functions, equipment, and facility
- Driving a company vehicle to transport employees and Veterans, as needed
- Assist in all emergency situations
- General use of tools and equipment
- General cleaning or other tasks as needed
Education / Preferred Experience
- High School diploma or GED equivalent required
- Valid Massachusetts Driver’s License, preferred
- Serve‑Safe experience preferred
- CPR / First Aid Certification preferred
- Commit to strong customer service philosophy
- Move and lift 50 lbs.
- Stand for extended periods of time
- Navigate 9 flights of stairs
- Bend and squat as needed
- Operate a combination Nextel radio and cellular telephone
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills for interaction with internal personnel and external entities
- Self‑motivated with ability to work in a complex environment with limited supervision
- Handle multiple, complex tasks and priorities
- Strong analytical and investigative skills; resolve Veteran conflicts
- Basic computer skills for learning Veteran database, record keeping, email, and word processing
- Dedicated team player comfortable in an open, highly collaborative, diverse environment
