An multi-award-winning modern private members club in Boston seeks a senior, market-facing sales leader to serve as Assistant Director of Business Development – Membership & Guesthouse.

This role is critical to driving sustainable membership growth and expanding corporate guesthouse revenue through proactive, relationship-driven business development.
Position OverviewThe Assistant Director of Business Development is responsible for expanding the top-of-funnel membership pipeline and closing high-value membership and corporate guesthouse opportunities.
This is not a passive or referral-driven role. The ideal candidate is an experienced commercial leader who thrives on outbound prospecting, executive-level relationship building, and closing complex, high-value deals. The position plays a key role in driving long-term membership growth and supporting the continued success and relaunch of the club’s guesthouse offering.
While application management and admission processes remain within the Membership Development function, this role is accountable for proactively sourcing and feeding qualified prospects into the pipeline.
Key Responsibilities- Proactively source new membership prospects through outbound outreach, strategic partnerships, corporate relationships, and professional networks
- Identify and engage executives, entrepreneurs, institutions, and organizations aligned with the club’s values
- Generate a consistent flow of qualified prospects for handoff to the Membership Development team
- Represent the club at select business, cultural, and community events to drive new interest
- Lead membership sales meetings, private tours, negotiations, and closing conversations
- Convert high-quality prospects into committed members in alignment with pricing and brand standards
- Collaborate closely with Membership Development to ensure a seamless transition from prospect to applicant
- Identify and close corporate guesthouse and business transient opportunities
- Build relationships with corporate travel managers, institutions, and repeat-use clients
- Structure and finalize extended-stay agreements and negotiated-rate arrangements
- Cross-leverage guesthouse clients as membership prospects and vice versa
- Partner closely with Membership Development leadership with clear role alignment:
- Assistant Director: outbound pipeline expansion, senior sales, and closing
- Membership Development Manager: applicant journey and engagement
- Provide leadership and guidance to 1–2 direct reports
- Share best practices in outbound sales strategy, prospect qualification, and deal execution
- Deliver market feedback on corporate demand, membership interest, and guesthouse usage trends
- Track and report prospecting activity, conversion rates, and closed sales
- Maintain accurate CRM documentation
- Operate within a metrics-driven, high-accountability framework tied to membership growth and revenue targets
- 8–12+ years of experience in senior sales, business development, or revenue-generating leadership roles
- Demonstrated success expanding top-of-funnel pipelines through outbound prospecting
- Proven ability to close high-value, relationship-driven deals
- Experience in business transient sales, corporate travel, extended-stay, negotiated-rate accounts, or luxury hospitality environments
- Track record of selling to executives, founders, and institutional decision-makers
- Background in private clubs, hospitality, luxury brands, real estate, or corporate travel strongly preferred
- Polished, professional presence aligned with a premium brand
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
This is a highly market-facing role requiring regular on-site presence, external meetings, community engagement, tours, and corporate visits. Flexibility is expected to support sales events, prospect meetings, and guesthouse site visits.
