Outside Sales Engineer (Northeastern US)
Excel Technologies, Inc. invites you to apply for the Outside Sales Engineer (Northeastern US) role. This remote in‑territory sales position covers Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Vermont & Maine.
Job OverviewPrimary efforts focus on the generation of sales, service and support of microscopes, measuring instruments, software for imaging and analysis, and sample preparation supplies and equipment. You will also perform basic installation and technical support.
Responsibilities- Respond to inbound inquiries and requests from existing customers and active leads.
- Assess existing customer needs and historical activity to uncover new sales opportunities.
- Proactively prospect (internally and externally) to establish new connections.
- Network with customers and peers to build rapport and uncover industry insights.
- Collaborate with the sales team and management to evaluate and address complex challenges.
- Develop sales opportunities by researching and identifying potential accounts.
- Review account and order activity to facilitate prospecting and sales opportunities.
- Schedule and carry out appointments, calls, demonstrations, presentations and meetings.
- Conduct product and system demonstrations (in‑person and at Excel's state‑of‑the‑art Demo‑Lab showroom).
- Prepare recommendations, proposals and estimates.
- Finalize and close business opportunities.
- Manage and maintain established and prospective customers in our CRM system, ensuring data integrity.
- Minimum 2‑3 years of sales experience (flexible depending on experience).
- Exceptional organizational, time‑management, prioritization, and networking skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word.
- Experience with enterprise software solutions (e.g., CRM) is a bonus.
Travel primarily within the sales territory is required, with occasional visits to our headquarters in Enfield, CT and to customers, partners, prospects and events throughout North America.
Compensation: competitive tiered salary and commission structure with ongoing bonus opportunities and a full complement of benefits. Starting compensation will be based on experience, technical aptitude and sales acumen.
