Hojoko is a fun, high‑energy izakaya (Japanese Tavern) located in The Verb Hotel in the Fenway Neighborhood of Boston. Hojoko’s kitchen encompasses live fire cooking over traditional Japanese binchotan charcoal, an award‑winning burger, all the way to a sushi program that utilizes fish from Japan’s famed Toyosu Fish Market.

We’re seeking a reliable and hardworking Dishwasher to join our team. As a Dishwasher, you’ll play a vital role in maintaining a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen environment, ensuring our operations run smoothly. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a fast‑paced environment and being part of a team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Wash and sanitize all dishes, utensils, cookware, and other kitchen equipment following health and safety standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness in the dishwashing area, including sweeping and mopping floors, and taking out trash as needed.
  • Organize clean items in their proper storage locations.
  • Ensure dishwashing machines and equipment are cleaned and maintained regularly.
  • Assist kitchen staff with basic tasks, such as stocking supplies or cleaning spills.
  • Monitor supplies of dish soap, detergents, and other cleaning materials, notifying management when restocking is needed.
  • Comply with food safety and sanitation guidelines at all times.
  • Additional duties as required.
Requirements
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and handle multiple tasks.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
  • Physical stamina to stand for long periods, lift heavy items (up to 50 lbs.), and work in a hot, humid environment.
  • Team player with a positive attitude and willingness to assist as needed.
  • Prior experience in a kitchen or similar environment is a plus but not required.
Schedule & Compensation

Flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Competitive hourly wage, with opportunities for growth.
