Part‑time Cafeteria Attendant – Boston Teachers Union K‑8 Pilot School (SY25‑26)
This position is an anticipated vacancy; it is expected to be vacant by the start of SY25‑26. The current incumbent may rescind retirement, leave, or resignation up until the day of the anticipated vacancy date. Your hire will not be confirmed until the position is vacated. If the position does not become vacant by the start of the school year, you may begin the year as a Long‑Term Substitute.

7:00 AM – 2:00 PM - Address: 25 Walk Hill St, Boston, MA 02130
- Reports to:
Cafeteria Manager
- Prepare and cook food safely.
- Handle food safely and keep it sanitary.
- Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment and facilities.
- Serve food to students and staff.
- Assist with record‑keeping.
- Operate the cash register as assigned.
- Attend training meetings when required.
- Arrive on time, sign the posted timesheet, and remain until dismissed by the manager.
- Notify the manager and main office promptly if unable to work.
- Maintain pleasant working relations with colleagues by showing patience, respect, and self‑control.
- Follow all School Committee policies and instructor instructions regarding safety, sanitation, personnel standards, work techniques, and methods of performing duties.
- Portion food correctly and set up the serving counter.
- Wash dishes, trays, flatware, pots, pans, and utensils.
- Clean kitchen equipment and work area, including the floor.
- Unpack supplies and assist with stocking dry‑storage shelves and/or refrigerator shelves.
- Operate equipment properly, maintaining safety standards at all times.
- Perform duties as assigned by the Cafeteria Manager.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Current authorization to work in the United States; must have such authorization by first day of employment.
- Food Safety Certification for Managers.
- Serv Safe Food Handlers Certificate.
This position is subject to the City of Boston residency requirement. Salary information is available on the Career Site; salaries are listed by Union and Grade/Step.
