Job Summary
Vertex Pharmaceuticals is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Scientist to join our team in Boston, MA. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting small molecule drug development by applying functional genomics techniques to address key biological questions. This position requires a strong background in biological sciences and hands‑on laboratory experience.
This is a contract role.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct laboratory experiments to support genomics research, including cell culture, gene editing, flow cytometry, and next‑generation sequencing.
- Follow established protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure accuracy and reproducibility of results.
- Maintain detailed and accurate documentation of experimental procedures, observations, and results.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to analyze data and contribute to project goals.
- Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards in the laboratory environment.
Qualifications
- Education
:- PhD in Biological Sciences, OR
- Master’s degree with 5+ years of relevant experience, OR
- Bachelor’s degree with 7+ years of relevant experience.
- Required Skills
:- Hands‑on experience with cell culture and molecular biology techniques.
- Preferred Skills
:- Experience with flow cytometry and next‑generation sequencing (NGS) is a plus.
