Job SummaryThe Mass General Brigham Department of Anesthesiology at Massachusetts General Hospital is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to conduct translational neuroscience related to development of a novel gene therapy for peripheral nerve tumors. The ideal person for this position should possess good organizational skills, pay close attention to details, and communicate well. The person must be able to work independently, as well as with a team.

QualificationsPhD and/or MD required in neuroscience, cancer biology, immunology, molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology, or a related field.
Prior lab experience required. Must have evidence of strong scientific productivity, including peer‑reviewed publications. Open to highly motivated candidates with a relevant background. Secondary appointment will be at Harvard Medical School.
Responsibilities- Performs independent and highly specialized experimental procedures
- Designs and implements modifications of research protocols
- Troubleshooting problems and instructing colleagues in highly specialized techniques
- Synthesizes and interprets results
- Performs advanced data recording and analysis using various software programs and statistical techniques
- Maintains organized and detailed records of laboratory experiments in electronic laboratory notebooks
- Presents results at lab meetings and, as applicable, at national conferences
- Preparation and submission of research manuscripts to peer-reviewed journals
- Assistance with preparation of grant applications
- Other duties as assigned
- Work independently under general direction of the Principal Investigator
- Be motivated, meticulous, organized, and detail‑oriented
- Demonstrate initiative and enthusiasm for learning new techniques
- Have strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Possess strong technical abilities and computer science skills
- Possess excellent written and oral communication skills as demonstrated by publications and presentations
