Account Manager for the 2026 fine gardening season!

As a Horticultural Field Account Manager at Alden Laurel, you will take on a vital role in cultivating and maintaining strong client relationships, specializing in residential horticultural maintenance. Managing 30-40 clients. This is a full-time
SEASONAL position, depending on the candidate. Our field work season runs mid March through early December.

This position requires extensive experience in gardening and crew leadership. A background as an account manager within a gardening company is required. This role involves daily hands‑on fieldwork alongside your team.

What will you be doing?
  • Team Leadership:In this field role, you will lead Crews and Gardeners, serving as a horticultural mentor and supporting daily time management. Your role includes identifying and delivering educational opportunities to enhance the team's expertise.
  • Client Engagement:Collaborate closely with clients to understand their specific preferences, plant choices, and aesthetic goals. Execute all necessary seasonal maintenance while providing expert advice and design solutions tailored to their unique vision.
  • Project Oversight:Independently manage horticultural client accounts, overseeing small projects from conception to completion. Monitor project timelines, budgets, and quality standards with a keen focus on horticultural excellence.
  • Plant Selection and Care:Leverage your horticultural expertise to recommend and assist the selection, planting, and ongoing care of diverse plant species. Ensure that horticultural projects align with the clients' desires and thrive over time.
  • Communication:Maintain transparent and effective communication with clients, updating them on project progress, addressing inquiries, and ensuring their satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Record Keeping:Keep meticulous records of client interactions, horticultural project details, and financial transactions. Utilize organizational tools to streamline processes and enhance efficiency.

What are we looking for?
  • A background in art, design, or horticulture:While not required, is highly valued.
  • Horticultural Expertise:Proven experience in fine gardening, with a minimum of 5 years required.
  • Pruning Skills
    :
    Experienced in pruning to maintain plant health, appearance, and structure, including woody plants.
  • Client-Centric Focus:A passion for understanding clients' horticultural preferences and translating them into thriving plant landscapes.
  • Team Leadership:Demonstrated success in team leadership and building, showcasing a proven track record. Possess the ability to effectively collaborate with individuals at various stages in their careers, fostering a supportive and inclusive team environment.
