Summary

The Cardiology Physician Assistant (PA) position is located within the Medical Service at the West Roxbury campus location. This is a full‑time, 40 hour position. This position may also be filled by a Nurse Practitioner (NP). All interested NPs must apply through announcement: CBTD-HF.

Duties

The Cardiology Physician Assistant (PA) position is accountable for the management and evaluation of patients. The incumbent provides and oversees the care of cardiology patients under the supervision of Cardiology faculty. The primary role will involve the management and coordination of tests and procedures for patients being evaluated for structural heart procedures, including transcutaneous interventions for aortic valve disease, mitral valve disease, para valvular leaks, and left atrial appendage closure.

  • Provide care for Cardiology Structural Heart patients in an outpatient clinic setting.
  • Coordinate pre‑procedural testing such as CT scans, stress tests, cardiac catheterizations, and dental assessments.
  • Collaborate with Structural Heart Team members from Cardiac Surgery, Anesthesia, Cardiac Cath Lab, OR, and ICU staff.
  • Admit and discharge patients under cardiac structural heart procedures, managing transitions and liaising with primary care providers, consultants, tele‑health, and home‑care agencies.
  • Triage structural heart consultations and assess inpatient consultations for structural heart procedures under supervision of a Cardiology Attending.
  • Provide guidance and continuity of care for cardiology residents.
  • Manage coordination of tests and procedures for patients evaluated for structural heart procedures.
  • Liaise with other team members from different specialties to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Provide diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive services in accordance with patient care standards and practices within the Cardiology Section.
  • Perform patient history and physical exams, formulate treatment plans, and provide necessary treatments per current cardiology practices.

Requirements

Applicants pending completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met.

Physician Assistant Basic Requirements
  • Master's degree in any discipline or a bachelor's degree in any discipline with one year of experience as a Physician Assistant.
  • Successfully passed the PA National Certifying Exam (PANCE) or are in the process of taking the exam.
  • Currently hold, or will hold, a full and unrestricted license to practice in a State, Territory, Commonwealth of the U.S., or District of Columbia.
Preferred Experience

Experience working in Cardiology highly preferred.
