Position: Registered Nurse

Location: Med Surg - Orthopedics Unit

Schedule: 36 Hours (Nights / Every Other Weekend/Holiday)

ABOUT THE Medical Surgical/4 East DEPARTMENT AT BOSTON MEDICAL CENTER:

4 East is a 37-bed surgical unit. Populations for this unit include orthopedics, hip fracture, ENT, and OMFS. Staff on this unit must demonstrate cultural sensitivity to the needs of all patient populations and diverse staff.

Position Summary

As an RN in the Medical Surgical unit, you will play an integral role in delivering exceptional care. Using our patient-centered care model, you will be supported by a nursing organization and will deliver the high-quality care your patients deserve.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver nursing care in the Medical Surgical unit, including assessing, diagnosing, planning, intervening, evaluating, and educating patients
  • Communicate with health care team members, patients, and their families
  • Coordinate and delegate appropriate patient care activities to inter-professional colleagues
  • Update and manage patient records
  • Enter and interpret computerized data/information
  • Follow guidelines and policies established by BMC’s nursing organization
  • Assist the leadership team as needed in quality improvement projects
Job Requirements
  • Licensed to practice professional nursing as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
  • 1+ years of RN experience preferred
  • Certification in basic life support (BLS)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required in certain units
  • Nursing degree:
    Diploma, ASN or BSN (preferred); ability to obtain BSN within 4 years
  • Relevant clinical experience and/or specialty, certification required for certain practice areas
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Physical ability to meet job responsibilities
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • Fluency in another language a plus

Compensation

Compensation Range: $38.05 - $75.33

This range is an estimate based on minimum job qualifications. Our approach to determining base pay is comprehensive, considering education, experience, and licensure/certifications directly related to position requirements. BMCHS offers generous total compensation including benefits, retirement contributions, and programs to support employee and family wellbeing.
