The Registered Nurse (Oncology) provides specialized nursing care to patients diagnosed with cancer. This role involves administering treatments, managing symptoms, providing education and emotional support to patients and their families, and collaborating with the multidisciplinary oncology care team to ensure comprehensive, patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilitie
s

  • Deliver safe and effective nursing care to oncology patients, including chemotherapy administration, symptom management, and monitoring for treatment side effects.
  • Assess patient health status regularly and document findings in accordance with clinical protocols.
  • Educate patients and families about diagnosis, treatment plans, medication regimens, and potential side effects.
  • Coordinate care with oncologists, pharmacists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Provide emotional support and counseling to patients and families facing cancer diagnoses and treatment challenges.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards, hospital policies, and oncology-specific protocols. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain accurate clinical records.
  • Respond promptly to patient emergencies and changes in condition.

equired Qualifications
  • Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Minimum of 2 years nursing experience, preferably in oncology or related specialties.
  • Knowledge of chemotherapy protocols, cancer symptom management, and oncology nursing best practices.
  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication and patient education abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certification in Oncology Nursing (OCN) or equivalent.
  • Experience with electronic health records (EHR) and oncology-specific documentation systems.
Certifications
  • Active RN license (state-specific).
