The NICU transport RN is responsible to be available to leave at any time during his/her shift to pick up an infant that is requiring level III NICU care. The transport RN also helps to identify infants that are able to return to a home/community level II special care nursery and coordinates the transport with the team. Transport documentation is also done following any actual transport.

When not on transport the RN functions as a resource nurse available to help colleagues with care and seeks out these opportunities. At times the transport RN may be put into a nursing assignment when we are not accepting transports due to volume and or staffing concerns.

We are seeking a transport nurse with substantial NICU experience. This role involves leaving the unit with a small team to retrieve critically ill neonates from various locations. Candidates must be prepared for unpredictable situations and have the skills to manage complex care beyond delivery. Strong NICU background is essential; transport experience is highly preferred.

Hours: 36 Hours Per Week, Day/Night Rotating Shifts

Job Profile Summary

​This role focuses on providing professional and nonprofessional nursing care services in accordance with physician orders. In addition, this role focuses on performing the following Clinical Nurse duties:
Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates the care needs of a designated group of patients or provides nursing care and identified clinical support tasks within the scope of practice for achievement of the patient’s plan of care as directed.
