The Boston Children’s Hospital Department of Neurology cares for infants, children, and adolescents with all types of neurologic and developmental disorders. From diagnosis through long-term follow up, we provide compassionate, comprehensive support to help every child reach his or her full potential. Science informs our care today and our work toward better care tomorrow.
We’re proud to uphold a historical legacy that dates to 1929, when we became the first dedicated child neurology service at a U.S. pediatric hospital. We went on to establish the country’s first pediatric epilepsy unit (in 1944), the first comprehensive pediatric sleep center (in 1978), and the first dedicated pediatric neurocritical care program (in 1996).
Key responsibilities:
- Triaging and managing patient messaging and communication via phone and patient portal
- Assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating and modifying plans of care for a specific patient assignment throughout the healthcare continuum.
- Providing exemplary patient care and working closely with physician partners and members of the interdisciplinary Neurology team.
- Contacting patients for changes in clinical management.
- Providing ongoing care coordination between clinic visits by communicating with families, healthcare team members and other agencies involved.
- Educating patients and families regarding disease management and medications.
- Assisting with completion of prescriptions, school forms, medication and DME insurance authorizations, and other community networking resources and referrals
- Working 40 hours per week: four 10-hour shifts Monday through Friday in the Boston clinic.
Education:
- BSN degree
- At least two years of Pediatric RN experience in either inpatient or ambulatory setting required
- Neurology and/or epilepsy experience preferred
- MA RN license
During a public health emergency, individuals in this role may be expected to take on additional duties to respond to organizational needs.
The posted pay range is Boston Children’s reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.
Any base pay offer provided depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and a variety of other job-related factors. Base pay is one part of a comprehensive benefits package that includes flexible schedules, affordable health, vision and dental insurance, child care and student loan subsidies, generous levels of time off, 403(b) Retirement Savings plan, Pension, Tuition and certain License and Certification Reimbursement, cell phone plan discounts and discounted rates on T-passes.
