OverviewMassachusetts General Hospital Neurology is hiring a Per Diem Headache and General Neurology Advanced Practice Provider (APP). Under the supervision of the Division Chief, Director of APPs and Nursing and Collaborating Physician, the APP will work in the Neurophysiology Division of the Neurology Department, performing clinic visits (in person follow ups, procedures and occasional telehealth) working closely with other departments and divisions leading clinical continuity.
The APP will take a leading role in managing patients referred to the Neurology team for assessment, care and treatment. The APP will help plan, refine, and extend care activities beyond the walls of the clinic to integrate care and improve patients’ experience more fully.
- Collaborates with outside facilities and clinical staff for certain patients, and also to provide general information about caring for patients to other caregivers including outside hospitals, PCP’s, VNA, and private help.
- Collaborates with the multi-disciplinary team.
- Explore innovative ways to disseminate patient and community education materials to enhance continuity of care.
- Prescribes or recommends medications or other forms of treatment.

Knowledge in aspects of safety applicable to position;
Knowledge of and compliance with institutional, JCAHO, HIPAA, and other regulatory bodies’ standards.
- Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Licensure.
- Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Certification.
- Master’s or Doctoral Degree in given APP discipline.
- The desire to utilize a patient-centered approach to produce the highest quality of care.
- Interpersonal/communication:
Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication, and public speaking skills;
Good command of English language, including medical and scientific terminology.
- Busy ambulatory practice setting.
- Normal office conditions.
- Potential clinical exposure within the routine provision of patient care.
- Periods of walking, standing and sitting. Ability to assist and ambulate patients when needed.
- Normal business hours:
Monday – Friday, daytime hours.

Travel required for clinic and requires ability to work in multiple locations. Valid MA driver’s license needed.
