These roles focus on providing high-quality patient care and promoting wellness. APCs work collaboratively with physicians and other healthcare professionals to diagnose and treat a variety of acute and chronic conditions. In addition, this role focuses on conducting comprehensive patient assessments, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, developing and implementing treatment plans, providing education to patients and families, and evaluating therapeutic response to adjust interventions as needed.
A professional individual contributor role that may direct the work of other lower‑level professionals or manage processes and programs. The majority of time is spent overseeing the design, implementation or delivery of processes, programs and policies using specialized knowledge and skills typically acquired through advanced education. A senior‑level role that requires advanced knowledge of the job area typically obtained through advanced education and work experience.
Responsibilities- Apply advanced nursing knowledge and experience to provide care to assigned caseload of patients in collaboration with the attending physician.
- Perform comprehensive assessment, diagnosis and treatment of common problems throughout the disease process.
- Provide comprehensive symptom management with specific attention to goals of care.
- Provide care appropriate to the age of patients served.
- Perform procedures and treatments using nursing judgment and established practice guidelines.
- Order and administer drugs, monitor medication treatment according to patient response.
- Remain knowledgeable about equipment and utilize equipment safely.
- Write clear, comprehensive initial and follow‑up notes; order appropriate diagnostic and laboratory tests.
- Plan for necessary home care and follow‑up.
- Initiate referrals and consultations with appropriate specialists.
- Facilitate family and team meetings as appropriate.
- Direct the medical/nursing plan of care, building collegial relationships among colleagues and peers.
- Delegate responsibilities to others with understanding of their roles and capabilities.
- Facilitate cooperative and collaborative relationships among disciplines and departments to ensure effective quality patient care delivery.
- Maintain a collaborative work relationship for a positive work environment.
- Serve as a nursing leader and role model to all team members.
- Perform role consistently professionally, self-accountable and present calmly.
- Influence others by establishing a climate for optimal patient care and professional development.
- Participate in performance improvement activities using performance improvement principles.
- Attend and actively participate in staff meetings; read minutes if not able to attend.
- Keep current with literature regarding changing practices, interventions and research.
- Seek educational and professional opportunities for personal learning and growth.
- Meet mandatory education requirements and unit-specific competencies.
- Act as a preceptor to new NPs and graduate NP students as requested.
- Maintain collaborative relationships to contribute effectively to working group goals.
- Minimum Qualifications:
- Masters degree in Nursing.
- Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Three (3) years of nursing experience.
- Certifications (e.g., ACLS, PALS) relevant to the department and type of care may be required.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Five (5) years of nursing experience.
- Specialty nursing certification.
- Prolonged standing/walking.
- Lifting, positioning, pushing, and/or transferring patients and equipment.
- Reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching.
- Exposure to hazardous chemicals, sick patients, bodily substances, noise, radiation, lasers, electric shock.
- Risk of blood‑borne diseases and transmissible infections.
- Contact with patients under numerous circumstances.
- Handling emergency and crisis situations.
- Contact with hazardous materials.
- Provide care to patients throughout lifespan with consideration of aging processes, human development stages and cultural patterns.
- Provide primary care for caseload according to practice guidelines and hospital policies.
- Possess and apply skills necessary for patient care across lifespan with age‑specific knowledge and communication.

Pay Range: $41.76 - $68.89.
