Historic, visionary institution seeks a part-time intern to support its Development Department’s Individual Giving programs. Development interns contribute to the success of John
F. Kennedy Library Foundation programs, initiatives, and events. This is an ideal internship for an individual seeking to be exposed to the work of a dynamic nonprofit, and gain valuable skills in customer service, database maintenance, and relationship management.
- Supporting the Foundation’s membership, annual fund, and individual giving activities
- Helping to maintain the Department’s CRM, Salesforce: processing contributions, completing data entry and updates, reviewing lists, pulling reports, performing data hygiene checks, and other items as assigned;
- Preparing lists, e-communications, and physical mailings to solicit support and steward donors;
- Supporting the delivery of Individual Giving acknowledgements, including the distribution of print and digital membership cards;
- Responding to members and donor inquiries via phone and e-mail and providing superior customer service;
- Conducting research on donors and potential funders;
- Staffing membership tables at special programs and during busy Museum hours;
- Collaborating on developing creative ways to acquire members and inspire giving to the JFK Library Foundation;
- Playing a key role in planning membership events
- Contributing to preparations and providing day of staffing for events and programs, such as dinners and receptions, Award ceremonies, cultivation and stewardship programs;
Board activities;
New Frontier Network and member events, and more. Spring events include the Foundation’s signature gala, The May Dinner; - Performing administrative tasks, such as drafting correspondence, updating webpages, maintaining electronic and paper files, and more.
- High school diploma or equivalent required;
- Enthusiasm and desire to make an impact on a mission-driven team with strong work ethic;
- Detail-oriented with superior organizational skills and an ability to handle confidential information with discretion;
- Strong command of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint;
- Flexibility to work occasional evening and weekend events (dates will be provided) is ideal
- Eager to learn and work with the development department in a non-profit;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Strong organizational skills, with ability to prioritize and manage multiple shifting requests.
$20/hour, 16-20 hours per week
Additional InformationThis internship runs through December 31, 2025 and will be an average of 16 to 20 hours per week, primarily between Monday to Friday between the hours of 9am and 5pm. Events and their preparation may occur outside these hours and days and are discussed with interns as weekly schedules are prepared. This internship may be extended upon mutual agreement and at the Foundation’s discretion.
This is a hybrid position with at least two days per week spent on site at the JFK Presidential Library, which has free parking and is accessible by public transportation on the MBTA Red Line. Some hours may be completed remotely. There is a café on-site open from 10am to 5pm, as well as an employee lunch room. Dress code is business casual.
- Build professional collaboration skills: experience being part of a team that crafts a mission- driven cultural experience;
- Develop awareness of the many facets of development operations in a non-profit organization, including: stewardship of Board and donors, along with data entry operations;
- Strengthen interpersonal skills and the ability to satisfy the requests of various staff members— supervisors, event attendees / visitors, principals, and advance teams—with grace and diplomacy.
