Environmental Political Organizing Intern

The Environmental Voter Project is looking for highly-motivated individuals to join our Internship Program. Interns will work with the entire EVP staff to learn about organizing, nonprofit communications, and political messaging. Interns will be expected to devote time to voter outreach, volunteer management, electoral research, drafting memos, and senior staff support. In addition to gaining valuable nonprofit advocacy skills, interns will become talented organizers and political operatives by learning the nuts and bolts of nonprofit work and electoral campaigning from an exciting and innovative organization.

We are seeking responsible, motivated candidates who can commit 10 hours per week over the course of two afternoons from 12-5pm Eastern.

While the Environmental Voter Project is based out of Boston, MA, this internship is a fully virtual experience and applicants from across the country are encouraged to apply.

  10 hours per week
• Afternoons (12-5pm Eastern Time), Monday through Friday. Interns are expected to have at least two afternoons open per work week from 12-5pm Eastern. The schedule will be agreed upon before the start of the internship.
• We regularly work with academic institutions on providing academic credit for EVP internships.
• This is an unpaid internship, but EVP provides each intern with a $100/week stipend.

• Volunteer recruitment, coordination, and management
• Voting and elections research
• Data management
• Participation in weekly learning seminars
• Outreach to local and state elections offices

• Access to a computer and reliable internet
• A phone or other calling apparatus (i.e. Google Voice, etc.)
• Ability and willingness to regularly communicate with voters (3 hours/week)
• Basic working knowledge of Google Drive, including Sheets and Docs
• At least two free afternoons per week, 12-5pm Eastern, Monday through Friday
• An interest in environmental issues or politics
• An outgoing and friendly demeanor
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to represent the Environmental Voter Project in a professional manner at all times

Interns will receive significant training in field work, organizing, voter outreach, issues research, and membership communications.
