Overview
The Program Manager supports the Program Director managing the day-to-day programming at the Jamaica Plain Recovery Center. The Program Manager reports to the Program Director for support and supervision.
Location: The Jamaica Plain Recovery Center is a ‘recovery-oriented sanctuary anchored in the heart of the community,’ delivering peer-to-peer recovery support services, and providing a safe, supportive, healing space for individuals in recovery using a volunteer/member base, guided by peer staff, to deliver services and provide multiple pathways to recovery.
Essential Functions- Develop, with the Program Director, ongoing Volunteer and Peer Leader recruitment, orientation, and skills development.
- Coordinate and develop, along with the Program Director, Recovery Coach programming. Coordinate and monitor activities to ensure that they are meeting the needs of the members and the center.
- Ensure that the center’s programming and activities are developed with members’ input and engagement and includes multiple pathways to recovery.
- Collaborating with Outreach and Engagement Specialists to provide outreach to the community and increase center membership, as well as ensure that programming is accessible and engaging.
- Collaborate and partner with community organizations, leaders and local treatment and recovery support service providers, coalitions and task forces, career centers and/or employment/housing organizations and criminal justice departments to promote the availability of the center, represent the recovery community, advocate for recovery, and ensure linkages to resources, supports, programs and services that benefit and address life needs of the membership.
- Work collaboratively with staff and peers to promote the shared philosophy that recovery is maintained in the community, and each individual’s recovery pathway should be respected and supported.
- Attend supervision with the Program Director or their designee.
- Enforce all policies and procedures of Victory Programs.
- Ensure, along with the Program Director, that there is adequate staff coverage and provide milieu coverage as needed.
- Act in accordance with Victory Programs Standards of Excellence & Philosophy Care, including maintaining professional ethics, boundaries, and client confidentiality, and working from a strength-based perspective.
- Attend weekly staff meetings, trainings, seminars, workshops and rallies as requested by the supervisor.
- Represent the program(s) in the community and to designated funders, as requested by the supervisor.
- Participate and support the agency in program holiday events, State House rallies, fundraising and advocacy events, HIV/AIDS rally and walk, and any additional functions.
- Perform other duties as deemed necessary by your supervisor or his/her designee.
The successful candidate is someone who has accepted their substance use history, has learned to live with and manage the daily challenges of recovery, and has attained a level of personal growth and healing that gives them the understanding, insight and motivation to help others.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must demonstrate an understanding and belief in the recovery process and Recovery Oriented Systems of Care model.
- Must have knowledge of multiple pathways to recovery support systems, including but not limited to 12-step support groups, faith-based groups, harm reduction services, SMART Recovery, Life Ring; and providing direct service.
- Ability and willingness to share personal experiences of living with substance use/recovery to help educate, provide emotional support, and offer practical strategies to clients.
- Must be CPR certified (may be obtained upon hire)
- Completed TB screening (may be obtained upon hire)
- Three work related professional references; at least 2 from manager or supervisor.
- Current Certified Addiction Recovery Coach (CARC) certification and completion of Recovery Coach Supervision within 6 months of hire.
