Metrology Technician I

We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically proficient Metrology Technician I to join our precision manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for measuring, verifying, and documenting critical dimensions and performance characteristics to ensure that micro-miniature components—including orifices, fittings, filters, and jewel bearings—meet stringent specifications and quality standards. You will collaborate closely with machine shop and assembly teams to support the production of consistently high-quality products.
Responsibilities- Perform precision measurements on orifice parts, inserts, connectors, and other components using calibrated metrology tools (e.g., optical comparators, high‑resolution microscopes, verniers, drop indicators, and pin gauges).
- Verify and document critical dimensions and tolerances are within specification per drawings and quality standards.
- Collaborate with management and production to troubleshoot quality issues and improve measurement processes.
- Ensure compliance with established quality standards and documentation requirements.
- Support internal inspections, incoming inspections of raw materials, and final part verification prior to shipment.
- Support the introduction and validation of new metrology technologies by evaluating, implementing, and integrating advanced measurement systems to improve manufacturing accuracy, efficiency, and process capability.
- Maintain and calibrate metrology instruments in accordance with company policies.
- Associate’s degree or technical certification in metrology, mechanical engineering, precision measurement, or manufacturing, or a related field OR high school diploma/GED with equivalent work experience.
- Hands‑on experience with precision measurement equipment such as optical comparators, high‑resolution microscopes, micrometers, calipers, verniers, drop indicators, and pin gauges.
- Strong understanding of GD&T principles.
- Proficient in reading blueprints and drawings.
- Experience working in precision manufacturing environments with very tight tolerances.
- Familiarity with calibration procedures for various types of measurement devices.
- Excellent attention to details and a commitment to maintain high quality standards and documentation skills.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with different departments.
- Previous experience with micro‑miniature fixtures/components or jewel‑based parts.
- Experience working with CNC machinery or manufacturing automation is a plus.
- Can speak fluent English and Spanish.
- Proactively takes initiative to deliver results beyond assigned responsibilities.
- Exhibits a results‑driven approach with a willingness to take extra steps to achieve success.
