We are looking for a Staff Engineer, Foundry Management. As a Staff Engineer, you’ll be part of a cross‑functional team whose mission is to lead IonQ on its journey to build the world’s best quantum computers to solve the world’s most complex problems.
In this role, you will oversee the transition of leading nanofabrication technologies from small‑scale fabrication to foundry‑scale mass production. You will work closely with research scientists, engineers, and product managers to prepare existing fabrication workflows for transition to foundries, establish relationships with mass‑production partners, and ensure production of devices meets required timelines and specifications.
Responsibilities- Manage relationships with foundries and large‑scale production partners for cutting‑edge device platforms
- Select optimal development and production partners based on device and technology platform needs
- Work with research scientists to optimize existing process flows for foundry‑scale integration
- Partner with product teams to ensure production timelines match target product specifications and volumes
- Transition technology and IP from research developments within IonQ to external production partners
- Propose new techniques for large‑scale production of quantum devices
You’d be a good fit with:
- 10+ years of experience in managing fabrication and device production
- Experience transitioning or developing new technologies for foundry‑scale production
- Deep understanding of fabrication and device physics principles including photonic, electronic, and MEMS devices
- The ability to synthesize complex device performance and production requirements into a device production plan
- Ability to effectively communicate and form consensus with external and internal stakeholders through documents and presentations
You’d be a great fit with:
- 3D integration or advanced packaging expertise
- A track record of successfully producing devices at scale for commercial use
- Experience developing and marketing quantum or optical devices
- Experience launching and completing new endeavors within large organizations
This role is located onsite at our facility in Boston, MA. Travel: up to 25% travel, primarily domestic.
CompensationThe approximate base salary range for this position is $123,191 - $161,289. The total compensation package includes base, bonus, and equity.
