Account Director

Real Chemistry is looking for an Account Director to join our growing Medical Communications team!

The Account Director for the Scientific and Medical Affairs team serves the primary client contact, leading client relationships of ~$2M, providing strategic counsel, and overseeing the successful execution of projects for emerging and mid‑stage biotech companies as part of our Biotech Center of Excellence (COE). You will ensure high‑quality deliverables, proactively identify opportunities for account growth, and manage internal teams effectively.

This is a hybrid role based in our Boston office.

What You’ll Do
  • Serve as the day‑to‑day client lead and trusted advisor for emerging and mid‑stage biotech partners across medical affairs and publication work streams, leveraging our Biotech COE
  • Provide senior‑level strategic counsel on key programs, tailoring recommendations to the realities of emerging and mid‑stage biotech (e.g., evolving evidence, rapid timelines, and lean teams).
  • Oversee account operations to ensure seamless execution of high‑quality deliverables - driving proactive issue resolution, clear stakeholder communication, and consistent delivery standards across the Biotech COE
  • Drive strategic planning and account growth by identifying opportunities to evolve and expand programs for existing and identified emerging and mid‑stage biotech clients.
  • Ensure financial stewardship across the account, including budget oversight, forecasting, resourcing, and profitability management.
  • Mentor and develop team members, fostering a collaborative, high‑performing environment and contributing to capability‑building within the Biotech COE.
  • Stay current on industry trends, competitor activity, and relevant regulatory updates - translating insights into practical guidance for biotech clients.
  • Support new business efforts for emerging and mid‑stage biotech, contributing to pitches and proposals and partnering with the Biotech COE to showcase differentiated expertise.
What You Should Have
  • 6+ years of experience in medical affairs and ideally publications, in an agency setting.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience servicing biotech clients.
  • Proven leadership skills, with experience managing client relationships and internal teams.
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem‑solving abilities, with a track record of driving account growth.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Proficiency in financial management, including budget tracking and forecasting.
  • Experience with Advisory boards, investigator meetings, and meeting management.
  • Veeva management expertise (preferred but not required).
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required.
