Career Staffing Talent (CST) has partnered with a leading healthcare facility serving more than 68,000 patients annually across the Merrimack Valley to identify their next Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
This multi-site community health center operates medical clinics, pharmacies, school-based health centers, and mobile health programs, and serves as a primary care home for a large, diverse, and often underserved patient population.
This is a mission-critical executive role for a seasoned healthcare finance leader with direct FQHC experience who can own financial strategy, compliance, and performance in a complex community health environment.

Your leadership will directly influence access to care, program sustainability, and the ability to expand services across the Merrimack Valley and North Shore.
You’ll partner with an engaged CEO and Board to align financial strategy with a deeply community-centered mission focused on underserved populations.
- Own enterprise-wide financial strategy, planning, and analysis for a growing FQHC
- Lead annual budgeting, multi-year forecasting, and scenario modeling across multiple clinical sites and programs
- Serve as a strategic advisor to the CEO and Board on margins, risk, and long-term sustainability in a safety-net environment
- Present clear, actionable financial insights to clinical, operational, and administrative leaders
Core Finance Operations & Compliance
- Oversee accounting, revenue cycle, cash flow, treasury, and financial reporting in alignment with GAAP
- Ensure full compliance with HRSA/BPHC requirements, UDS reporting, and state/federal regulations for FQHCs
- Manage external audits, banking relationships, and financial risk controls
- Develop, implement, and maintain internal controls, policies, and procedures to support scale and safeguard assets
- Lead all aspects of FQHC-specific finance: PPS/wraparound, Medicaid/Medicare, and value-based/payment-reform models
- Oversee grants management – federal, state, and foundation – including budgeting, tracking, and compliance reporting
- Partner with operations and clinical leadership to optimize revenue cycle performance and payer mix
- Use data from EHR and practice management systems to drive revenue integrity and informed decision‑making
- Build, develop, and mentor a high‑performing finance team with a culture of accountability and service
- Collaborate closely with clinical, operational, and population health leaders to align financial decisions with patient care priorities
- Support strategic initiatives such as new sites, mobile programs, and expanded services across Lawrence, Methuen, Haverhill, and surrounding communities
- Communicate complex financial concepts in accessible, mission‑focused language for non‑financial stakeholders
What We're Looking For
Required Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field
- 7–10+ years of progressive healthcare finance leadership, with direct FQHC experience required (CFO, VP Finance, or equivalent in a community health center)
- Deep knowledge of FQHC regulations and reimbursement (HRSA/BPHC, UDS, PPS, wraparound, Medicaid/Medicare)
- Demonstrated success managing revenue cycle, audits, and multi‑source funding (grants, state/federal, payers) in a safety‑net or community health setting
- Prior experience presenting to and partnering with a nonprofit Board of Directors
- Strong financial modeling, forecasting, and analytical skills
- Clear, confident communicator who can influence across clinical and administrative teams
- Advanced degree (MBA, MHA, MS in Finance/Accounting)
- CPA, CHFP, or similar healthcare finance credential
- Experience in Massachusetts community health or the broader Merrimack Valley/North Shore ecosystem
- Familiarity with nonprofit fund accounting systems and healthcare EHR/practice management tools
