Summary of Position

Reporting directly to the Vice President of Outreach and Emergency Programs, the Senior Director is responsible for the leadership and management of all of Pine Street Inn’s shelters, guest engagement and triage programs; focusing on basic needs while supporting the Inn’s housing‑centric programs within and around the shelters. PSI aims to provide safe, sanitary and welcoming shelter to individuals struggling with homelessness using a person‑centered, low threshold approach.

The Senior Director is responsible for ensuring that the operations of the shelters, guest engagement and triage programs support the agency’s strategic goals that emergency stays are rare, brief and non‑recurring and that all operational efforts strongly support safe and appropriate diversion, if possible, or the transition of individuals to permanent and/or alternative housing if enrolled in shelter. This position aims to divert any person who is seeking shelter, when possible, to a stable, safe, housing option and ensure a seamless entry into shelter when diversion is not possible.

The position will partner with imbedded/integrated teams and peers to strategize, design and execute complex change management communication plans within Pine Street Inn’s shelters in support of its strategic goals around the following programs aimed at promoting housing opportunities for all shelter guests:
Outreach, Shelter Clinical Services, Housing Placement and Workforce Development.

Working with the agency’s senior and executive leadership, the Senior Director is responsible for developing, implementing, promoting, managing and maintaining all approved Pine Street Inn regulatory, personnel, facilities, program, operations, financial and security policies, protocols and procedures.

The Senior Director also serves in an external capacity and is responsible for developing and maintaining positive working relationships with shelter neighbors, partners, collaborators and funders. They will also continuously assess changing contexts and environments and the implications to continue necessary relationships/partnerships for the good of PSI and the community.

The Senior Director must ensure leadership response is available for consultation in the 24/7 operations shelter programs.
