Job Description

ABM is hiring an Airport Cleaner in our Logan International Airport. Salary: $23.90 per hour. This position offers a good entry-level opportunity for individuals looking to enter or return to the workforce with limited experience and education. • Cleans and maintains airport facilities, performing heavy cleaning duties such as cleaning floors, washing walls, glass, and removing rubbish.
• Notifies managers of needed minor or major repairs or additions to building operating systems.
• Establishes and maintains effective communication and working relationships with clients, co‑workers, shift coordinators, supervisors, managers, etc.
• Complies with all safety, security, compliance, and quality standards and procedures established by the company, clients, and regulatory authorities.
• Flexible and willing to complete all tasks assigned.
• Performs floor cleaning by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming, following procedures for chemical cleaners and power equipment.
• Uses ladders to dust and wash furniture, walls, machines, equipment, ceilings, light fixtures, and polish as needed.
• Removes stains from rugs, drapes, walls, and floors using chemicals and cleaning solutions.
• Prepares cleaning solutions by mixing water, detergents, or acids per specifications.
• Vacuums carpeted areas, applies spot‑cleaning treatments.
• Collects and empties trash.
• Purifies furniture and fixtures; services, cleans, and supplies restrooms.
• Cleans interior partition glass, windows, glass partitions, and mirrors with soapy water or other cleaners.
• Maintains janitor’s closet orderly and keeps equipment in good working order.
• Requisition s supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties.
• May be expected to make basic repairs.
• Other miscellaneous duties as assigned.

• Allowed to stand, walk, and/or drive for much of the work shift.
• Required to lift up to 50 pounds or more for much of the shift.

• Moderate noise level typical of an airport setting.

• Communicate effectively in English; read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and procedure manuals, and employee handbooks.
• Present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the public; use effective listening skills.

• Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

• Comply with the company’s uniform and grooming standards and always wear a SIDA badge/Airport .
• Follow guidelines and policies set forth in the ABM Team Member National Handbook & the New York Supplemental Handbook.

• 1 year of janitorial experience.
• Customer service experience.
• Age 18 or older.
• Effective English communication skills.
• Must meet all requirements to receive approval for working in specific ATS environments (if applicable).
