Utility Person

Job Summary

As a CBRE, GDS Utility Person (Commercial Cleaner), you will be responsible for basic cleaning duties. This includes mopping, sweeping and trash disposal. You will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness of your assigned areas.

• May be responsible for opening/closing the facility
• Provide daily cleaning support to high-traffic areas of the building as designated by the supervisor.
• Stock bathrooms with toilet paper, paper towels, Kleenex, and soap.
• Sweep, vacuum, wipe, and mop storage units, hallways, restrooms, elevators, etc.
• Dust furniture, walls, and equipment including moving and rearranging furniture.
• Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors using cleaners, sponges, and squeegees.
• Ensure that cleaning supplies are in a safe, secure area at all times.
• Complete standardized cleaning process as per company standards.
• Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment.
• Assist with snow removal and grounds keeping.
• Respond to calls for access control.
• Identify and respond to tripped alarms on the alarm panel and alert fire personnel.
• Prepare biohazard waste for transport and perform replacement of liquid nitrogen gases as needed.
• Attend all regular staff meetings and required in-service training sessions.
• Follow basic work routines and standards in the application of work.
• Use existing procedures to solve straightforward problems while having a limited opportunity to exercise discretion.
• May assist with receiving, sorting and delivering office mail.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 2 years of job‑related experience.
• Knowledge of HIPAA privacy guidelines, highly preferred.

• Occasional exposure to elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, chemicals, etc.
• Able to lift and carry a minimum of 30 pounds.

• Capability to perform physically demanding tasks, including stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs, lifting (up to 50 lbs.) and moving furniture.
• Ability to follow basic work routines.
• Ability to communicate.
• Strong organizational skills with an inquisitive mindset.
• Ability to efficiently complete assigned tasks within designated time frames.
• Reliable and responsible, can work independently or as part of a team.

The minimum pay rate for this position is $16.00–$23.00 per hour.
