Part-Time Custodian
Hours are 19 per week. Rate is $16.74 per hour
Reports to: Principal/Headmaster/Responsibility Center Manager
General DescriptionResponsible for the cleaning and maintenance of a school building; operation and care of the heating and ventilation system; care and maintenance of the grounds adjacent to the building; and performing other custodial duties as required.
ResponsibilitiesClean walls, glass; strip floors and reseal; strip stairways, handrails, etc.; move furniture out of rooms; wash down furniture; cleaning boilers; painting.
Shoveling 30 path to all doors during snowstorms; general repairs; changing light bulbs; replacing water in coolers; sanding and salting during winter; cutting grass and maintaining grounds; removing graffiti; replenish supplies.
Sweeping stairways; sweeping entrance; spot mopping classrooms; cleaning toilets; sweeping bathrooms and service grounds; removing trash; sweeping lunchrooms; opening and/or closing building.
Mopping stairways (or as needed); mopping all floors (or as needed); cleaning out barrels.
This is a general description of physical activity only with all required infrequently to moderately
- Standing: 45% of 8-hour day
- Walking: 45% of 8-hour day
- Sitting: 10% of 8-hour day
- Lifting (Majority of lifting is less than 20 lbs):
- Mop buckets: up to 55 lbs
- Supplies: up to 80 lbs.
- Trash: up to 75 lbs.
- Pushing/Pulling:
Vacuum Cleaner - Snow Blower
- Stripper
- Broom/Mop
- Climbing:
Infrequently to change light bulbs and/or to clean boiler, etc. - Squatting/Bending/Twisting/Stooping/Reaching
Custodial Union. This position is subject to a City of Boston residency requirement.
