This position supports the Intellectual Property and Intellectual Property Litigation Business Development Director and Manager and the broader Business Development team on a wide variety of initiatives, including the execution of research, pitch materials, presentations, responses to requests for proposal, marketing content management, marketing communications, events, sponsor ships and general business development activities. While supporting activities across legal departments and providing an enhanced level of support for business development activities related to the Intellectual Property Department and the Intellectual Property Litigation Practice Group, the Business Development Coordinator is responsible for developing an understanding of department and firmwide priorities in order to properly assist with activities that support those interests.
Responsibilities- Assists in preparing sophisticated, thoughtful, and persuasive pitches, including RFP responses and tailored marketing collateral.
- Provides support for market recognition efforts, awards and legal directory submissions Chambers USA, Legal 500, Managing IP and Best Lawyers.
- Supports the planning and execution of firm events including conferences, webinars, client entertainment and receptions and coordinates sponsor ships to fully leverage benefits.
- Reviews and conducts research on companies, industries, marketplaces and competitors related to pitches and other strategic initiatives; develops insights and communicates recommendations and applicable information.
- Helps maintain the firm’s experience and content management database (Foundation) and performs queries and exports as needed.
- Works with colleagues to support contact management efforts via Inter Action (including contact updates, development of targeted marketing lists, tagging client activities, etc.).
- Acts in conjunction with Communications and Digital Marketing teams to support marketing communications-related activities, such as website updates, newsletter distribution, improvements to attorney biographies and online profiles including Linked In.
- Actively participates in the Client Development Department's cross-functional resources program working with Managers across legal departments and functions in their various business development and marketing efforts including events and sponsor ships.
- Performs special projects as requested by Client Development leadership team.
- Displays professionalism, quality service and a “can do” attitude to internal members/departments of the firm as well as external clients and vendors via electronic and print correspondence, over the telephone and in-person.
- Excellent written, presentation and oral communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and quality.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize action steps, independently manage follow up and meet deadlines.
- Research skills and reasoning ability to turn data into succinct and useful deliverable for lawyers.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite software, among other tools.
- Ability to work independently.
- 1-2 years of experience in a professional services environment, preferably with a law firm, in a marketing or business development role is a plus.
- BA/BS required.
