Position Summary

We are seeking a General Counsel / In-House Attorney to work closely with company leadership and legal guidance across a wide range of business activities. This position is ideal for an attorney who enjoys variety, diverse projects, problem‑solving, collaboration, and who is interested in serving as a trusted legal advisor embedded within a dynamic, multi‑faced organization.

The successful candidate will address both ongoing and novel legal issues, assist with strategic decision‑making, and manage legal risk while supporting the company’s continued growth and operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide advice and counsel on new business ventures, contracts, transactions, negotiations, and legal defenses, and general legal questions as they arise.
  • Conduct legal research to better advise on the above.
  • Oversee all real estate‑related legal matters, including evictions, stipulations, foreclosures, lease agreements, and purchase and sale transactions
  • Evictions include residential (apartments F.S. 83 and mobile homes F.S. 723) and commercial.
  • Much of this work will be performed by a paralegal under your supervision.
  • Our land‑lease communities operate under unique 99‑year lease structures, creating unique legal questions.
  • Manage and defend personal injury claims (pre‑suit) under the company’s Self‑Insured Retention (SIR) program, including:
  • Initial investigation
  • Discovery
  • Settlement negotiations
  • Litigation on a limited basis
  • Coordination with outside counsel for larger or more complex matters
  • Provide risk management guidance to reduce claims
  • Oversee and coordinate with outside counsel, including matters involving:
    • Personal injury
    • Employment law
    • ADA compliance
    • Class action defense
  • Provide legal oversight and guidance for the company’s in‑house financing entity.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Licensed to practice law in the State of Florida.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of litigation practice experience.
  • Strong desire to learn, research, and respond to a wide variety of legal issues.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with personal injury law and/or risk management.
  • Experience with real estate transactions.
  • Experience with banking law.
  • Knowledge of Fla. Stat. 723 & Fla. Stat. 83.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary:
    Starting at $100,000+, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
  • Compensation and benefits package is negotiable.
