** The Vertex Operational Excellence Co-Op program is a 6-month experiential training program for students currently working towards undergraduate or advanced degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Business Analytics, Information Systems, or other related fields. ** What you will be doing:
** Vertex Pharmaceuticals is seeking a highly motivated and curious co-op to join the Operational Excellence (OpEx) team and support AI adoption. This role will focus on enabling intelligent workflows, building internal capability, and fostering a culture of experimentation through generative AI tools like Microsoft Copilot.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about AI, eager to learn, and excited to contribute to high-impact initiatives that transform how teams work.

* Key Responsibilities:

*** Agent Development:
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and deploy AI agents that automate routine tasks and improve productivity.
* Prompt Engineering Enablement:
Develop and deliver training on prompt engineering, including use-case templates and best practices to build AI fluency across the organization.
* Office Hours & Community Engagement:
Host weekly office hours to support users, gather feedback, and share tips and tricks. Help build a vibrant internal AI community.
* AI Governance & Use Case Documentation:
Assist in documenting AI use cases, agent performance metrics, and governance protocols to ensure responsible deployment and alignment with enterprise standards.
** What you will need to succeed:
*** Currently pursuing a degree in one of the following areas:  + Computer Science, Data Science, or Engineering  + Business Analytics or Information Systems
* Familiarity with generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, Claude), prompt engineering, context engineering, connectors (model context protocol).
* Strong communication and collaboration skills; ability to work cross-functionally.
* Experience with Python, SQL, Power BI, Power Automate, or M365 tools is a plus.
* Experience with Operational Excellence (Lean Six Sigma, Process Mapping, etc.) is a plus
