About the RoleJoin Verily as an Accessibility UX Specialist and drive the evolution of truly inclusive digital experiences. Embedded within our dynamic UX organization, you will play a pivotal role in shaping products that go beyond compliance, ensuring usability and delight for users with disabilities. Collaborate closely with Product Designers, Researchers, Content Designers, and Engineering, while championing accessibility at every stage of the design process.
Responsibilities- Lead the integration of accessibility from discovery to design critique, embedding inclusive design into daily workflows.
- Define and document accessible interaction patterns, color contrast, typography, spacing, and motion to meet and exceed WCAG standards.
- Proactively review design artifacts to identify and mitigate accessibility risks before handoff.
- Advocate for and implement inclusive research practices, ensuring users with disabilities are represented in studies.
- Validate designs with assistive technology and recommend improvements based on findings.
- Contribute to the design system by setting accessibility standards, annotating components, and ensuring guidance is up-to-date in Figma and libraries.
- Enable and upskill designers through training, documentation, and accessibility playbooks.
- Drive organization-wide accessibility maturity, shifting focus from compliance to exceptional product quality.
- 5+ years in product or interaction design, focusing on accessibility and inclusive user experiences.
- Deep knowledge of accessible interaction patterns, color contrast, visual accessibility, assistive technologies, and keyboard navigation.
- Expertise in WCAG 2.1/2.2 AAA requirements and translating standards into actionable design constraints.
- Proven experience influencing cross-functional teams and elevating design standards.
- Strong ability to document and communicate accessibility requirements for engineering handoff.
- Experience with inclusive usability testing and research practices.
- Background in scaling accessibility through design systems.
- Familiarity with creating and maintaining accessibility guidelines and playbooks.
