Job Summary

Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Institute is currently seeking highly motivated individuals to join our organization in the Division of Chronic Disease Research Across the Lifecourse. The analyst will participate in multiple projects conducted by faculty members within the Department of Population Medicine (DPM), an appointing department of Harvard Medical School (HMS). S/he will work closely with the Technical Program Manager on several NIH-sponsored grants to support data management and data infrastructure.

The position contributes to daily data management and oversight, development of data system architecture, and as appropriate, contributions to scientific presentations and publications.

Job Description
  • Coordinates data management and data analyses as appropriate for relevant grant‑funded projects, including data cleaning, developing software programs (± SAS, R, Python), scalable database infrastructure and architectures, data problem identification and resolution, and results reporting. Includes working with large datasets (e.g. longitudinal, electronic health records, proprietary algorithm outputs).
  • Participate and lead discussions with internal investigators and other analysts to understand and interpret scientific and data‑related questions, lead the creation of technical specifications and requirements, and provide guidance and suggestions based on scientific and operational experience.
  • Develop working knowledge of technical and software tools required to access, utilize and analyze data from HPHCI and other applicable systems environments. Assimilate and learn new technical tools, software and data systems to accommodate continuous changes in technical environment.
  • Serves as lead and/or contributing author of analytic protocols, reports, and manuscripts, as appropriate.
  • Contribute to preparation of data requests regularly to contribute to grant aims, including preparation of summary reports and presentations.
  • Independently document project tasks and specifications. Responsible for managing project work according to work plan, and for successful completion of project goals within project timeline using effective time‑management skills. Identify and recommend alternative data/methods to meet project needs in most efficient way.
  • Collaborates and communicates effectively with a diverse group of collaborators, including investigators, stakeholders, funders, statisticians, programmers, and analysts. internal staff and external study partners.
  • Develop and perform data quality control activities. Provides project management and administrative support as needed for his/her projects. Build and maintain high‑standard documentation under a version control system.
  • Attend and actively participate in staff, data/operations, and co‑investigator meetings for multiple projects. Supervises project staff work as appropriate.
  • Use good and practice in working with highly confidential information. Follow all applicable privacy and confidentiality procedures in daily work.
