Overview

Position Summary
Experienced Epic Applications Analyst III with current Epic Cupid certification or other relevant Epic certification is a requirement for this role. Previous experience in Epic implementations or large-scale projects required, along with strong knowledge of Cardiology workflows and department processes.

The Applications Analyst III is a senior business specialist and technology generalist responsible for aligning technology solutions with business strategies. The Applications Analyst III proactively identifies opportunities to apply technologies to business processes by informing and advising customers on information system technologies' functionality, costs, benefits, and implementation requirements. Acts as technical liaison and broker of services with vendors. Serves as internal consultant, providing technical guidance or business process expertise on complex projects or strategic planning matters from a technical or business standpoint.

Must be competent to perform and integrate work at a high level within this job family and work at an in-depth level within the technical and clinical areas.

Essential Responsibilities / Duties
  • Collaborates with management, clinical application analysts and IT staff to define or design business processes and identify enabling technologies based on customer requirements. Act as liaison between clinical and technical staff to ensure user needs are met.
  • Actively seeks ways to apply existing technologies to clinical data and applications, researching and providing information on technical trends and practices relevant to healthcare delivery organizations.
  • Informs and advises customers on information system technologies’ functionality, costs, benefits, and implementation requirements.
  • Maintains a current understanding of strategic business initiatives and how they relate to IT goals and objectives. Assesses near-term needs using structured interview processes to establish business priorities.
  • Consults with technical experts and develops alternative technical solutions; seeks advice on options, risks, costs versus benefits, and impact on other business processes and system priorities.
  • Conducts business process analyses, needs assessments, and preliminary cost versus benefit measurements; brokers other IT services; communicates trends and requirements to and from customers and IT.
  • Develops all aspects of the project plans (scope, definition, functional and technical specifications, testing, delivery and support) and coordinates resources for successful delivery. Participates in the team environment to enable colleagues to fulfill objectives.
  • Provides effort estimates and assists in developing project timelines. Works with IT team members and business owners to define requirements, prototype and build solutions. Responsible for ensuring on-time project delivery.
  • Coordinates multi-system solutions to clarify interdependencies and interfaces so that systems appear seamless to customers. Anticipates issues and implements corrective actions.
  • Keeps IT group apprised of project status and informs clients of progress and potential potholes.
  • Evaluates new applications and makes recommendations to management as requested.
  • Provides services such as priority setting and brokering contracts on behalf of customers.
  • Prepares and presents formal presentations to both internal and external audiences.
  • Provides subject matter expertise and acts as an internal consultant on assigned application and business areas.
  • Maintains strong working knowledge of the application technologies to facilitate requirements gathering and educate end users.
  • Acts as a mentor to new and less experienced analysts regarding training, task assignment, and project oversight.
  • Participates in an on-call customer support rotation during normal business hours and off hours.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or as necessary.

Job Requirements Knowledge and Skills
  • Knowledge of the assigned business area’s products and processes.
  • Strong technical knowledge and ability to express complex concepts in business-friendly terms.
  • Strong understanding of project management concepts and documentation in planning and implementing multiple projects in a cross-functional environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills across all levels and departments.
  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills; demonstrated track record in new concept development and complex technical plans.
  • Ability to solve problems spanning multiple environments in a business area.
  • Efficient time management to maintain high output.
  • Understanding of how IT affects an organization and ability to link it to redesigned business processes.
  • Team player: flexible, friendly, congenial, and enthusiastic.
  • HL7 knowledge is a plus.
