Job Title: SQL Data Engineer
Overview: We are seeking an experienced SQL Data Engineer to join our IT team supporting healthcare-related applications and data systems. The role involves designing, developing, and maintaining data pipelines and integration processes that enable analytics, reporting, and business operations. You will work extensively with Snowflake and Informatica to deliver scalable, secure, and reliable data solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines using Informatica to move and transform data into Snowflake.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, HITECH, and organizational privacy/security standards.
- Develop data models, schemas, and views in Snowflake for efficient querying and analytics.
- Support interoperability and data exchange initiatives using healthcare standards (HL7, FHIR, X12 EDI).
- Implement data ingestion, transformation, and quality processes for trusted data.
- Monitor and troubleshoot data pipelines for performance and reliability.
- Collaborate with analysts, scientists, engineers, and business users to meet data requirements.
- Maintain documentation for data flows, metadata, and transformation logic.
- Assist with data security, access control, and governance within Snowflake and Informatica.
- Participate in testing, deployment, and release management for new workflows.
Required Qualifications:
- 3-5+ years of experience in SQL-based data engineering or ETL development.
- Hands‑on experience with:
- Snowflake Cloud Data Platform (SQL development, data modeling).
- Informatica Power Center or IICS for ETL/ELT design.
- Strong SQL skills and understanding of data warehousing concepts.
- Experience with SDLC, Agile/Scrum, and Dev Ops practices.
- Integration of structured/semi‑structured data (JSON, XML, CSV).
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform) and storage services (S3, Blob).
- Understanding of data governance, data quality, and metadata management.
Preferred
Skills:
- Python for scripting and automation.
- Knowledge of Informatica Data Quality (IDQ) or Data Catalog tools.
- Exposure to CI/CD pipelines, Git, and Agile environments.
Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Detail‑oriented with a focus on accuracy and process improvement.
- Eagerness to learn new tools and technologies.
Education &
Certifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, Health Informatics, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Snowflake or Informatica certifications are a plus.
