The Generative AI team at Car Gurus is at the forefront of innovation, driving the creation of new AI‑powered products and enabling other teams through collaboration and technical guidance. As Engineering Manager, you will lead a talented group of engineers focused on building, deploying, and scaling generative AI solutions that directly impact our business and customers. This is a highly visible leadership role that requires an entrepreneurial spirit, passion for experimentation, a deep understanding of AI technologies, and a commitment to fostering a culture of innovation and growth.

• Spark innovation by leading the incubation of new AI‑powered products, from ideation through production deployment.
• Partner with product managers and cross‑functional teams to define a roadmap to deliver impactful solutions that drive business growth by solving user problems.
• Collaborate closely with cross‑functional partners—including Product, Design, Data Science, and other product engineering teams—to identify user problems and deliver impactful solutions.
• Guide the team in rapidly prototyping, evaluating, and iterating on generative AI solutions, including LLM‑based applications, agentic systems, and Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures.
• Support team members’ career growth through individualized coaching, feedback, and development opportunities. Foster a high‑performing team to retain and recruit top engineering talent.
• Champion the adoption of GenAI tools and methodologies across the organization, advocating for AI‑driven solutions in both engineering practices and product development.

• An entrepreneurial spirit, comfort with ambiguity, and the ability to rapidly turn ideas and problem statements into concrete, measurable solutions.
• Proven experience (3+ years) managing and growing high‑performing engineering teams.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and a growth mindset, with a passion for continuous learning and experimentation.
• Experience designing, developing, and deploying scalable AI applications in production environments, in a fast‑paced, iterative environment.
• Deep understanding of large language models (LLMs), prompt engineering, and RAG systems.
• Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to motivate teams, solve complex problems, make data‑driven decisions, and thrive in cross‑functional settings.
• Ability to translate complex technical insights into clear and actionable direction for both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.

The displayed range represents the expected annual base salary / On‑Target Earnings (OTE) for this position. On‑Target Earnings (OTE) is inclusive of base salary and on‑target commission earnings, which applies exclusively to sales roles.

Individual pay within this range is determined by work location and other factors such as job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
