About Norel and NSG

NSG Life Safety and Norel Service are leading New England–based life safety companies that have joined forces to deliver end-to-end fire, security, and critical communications solutions—from system design and installation through long-term service and maintenance. Together, our team of approximately 100 employees supports complex, high-profile projects across the region, combining deep technical expertise with a commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

About the Role

The HR Business Partner will serve as the single point of contact for all HR matters, building and standardizing core HR functions across a newly merged, union and non-union workforce. This role will partner closely with leadership to drive culture change, support growth, and implement scalable HR processes including benefits, payroll, policies, and employee development. The successful candidate will drive essential organizational change, establishing foundational HR systems, processes, and policies that are currently underdeveloped or nonexistent.

We are specifically seeking a proactive, builder-minded professional who thrives in a dynamic environment and is eager to implement best practices for the first time. This opportunity is ideal for a resilient individual and can be very hands-on to build a significant scalable function.

Responsibilities HR Execution & Compliance
  • Implement HR programs and initiatives aligned with business needs.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws across multiple states.
  • Support organizational planning, workforce administration, and compliance tracking.
  • Create and maintain HR policies, employee handbook, and company-wide practices.
People Development & Training
  • Facilitate performance review processes and provide support for employee development activities.
  • Coordinate and deliver training programs to meet organizational needs.
Compensation, Benefits & HR Systems
  • Assess compensation and benefits programs and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Partner with Finance on payroll and benefits administration.
  • Select and consolidate HR/payroll systems and implement into a single tool.
  • Prepare workforce reports and dashboards.
Recruitment & Onboarding
  • While the company experiences relatively low turnover, manage full-cycle recruitment for open roles across the company.
  • Ensure consistent and inclusive hiring practices across departments.
  • Coordinate onboarding and orientation to ensure a smooth new hire experience.
Employee Relations & Culture
  • Handle employee relations issues and support resolution processes.
  • Help promote company values across all HR touchpoints.
  • Coordinate engagement programs and recognition efforts to strengthen workplace culture.
What You Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field.
  • PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP certification a plus.
  • 5-7 years of progressive HR experience with demonstrated HR operations expertise.
  • Experience supporting both unionized (preferred) and non-union work forces, with a strong grasp of employee relations and compliance required.
  • A proven ability to build, standardize, and run core HR functions end to end, including payroll, benefits, policies, and hiring.
  • A self-directed, scrappy mindset with the ability to design, implement, and operate HR programs in a growing, evolving organization.
  • Strong coaching and change-management skills, with a hands-on approach to unifying cultures and driving adoption.
  • Clear, confident communication skills and the ability to partner effectively with leaders and frontline employees.
What We Offer
  • Robust healthcare offerings: medical, dental, vision, telehealth, FSA and HSA plans
  • Company-paid life and disability insurance
  • Roth and Pre-tax 401(k) options with employer match
  • Generous paid time off: vacation, holiday, sick days
  • A culture rooted in passion, people, and purpose

Norel and NSG Life Safety are committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace. This description outlines general responsibilities and may evolve with business needs.
