You Are
The Benefits Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day administration and coordination of employee benefit programs, including health, dental, vision, life insurance, retirement plans, wellness initiatives, and other ancillary benefits.
The Opportunity
- Administer group benefit programs such as medical, dental, vision, life, accident, disability, voluntary benefits, and retirement plans (401(k)).
- Act as the primary contact for employees and vendors regarding benefit plan coverage, eligibility, enrollment, and claim issues.
- Facilitate benefits enrollment and changes during new hire onboarding, life events, and annual open enrollment periods.
- Coordinate with payroll to ensure accurate deduction processing and benefits-related payroll changes.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date benefits records in HRIS and benefits administration systems.
- Assist with compliance activities including nondiscrimination testing, ACA reporting, ERISA requirements, and required notices (e.g., COBRA, HIPAA, SPD).
- Review and reconcile monthly carrier invoices; investigate and resolve discrepancies.
- Participate in benefits benchmarking, plan design review, and renewal processes in collaboration with brokers or consultants.
- Support wellness programs, benefits communications, and employee education efforts to promote understanding and engagement.
- Help ensure all benefit offerings are in alignment with federal, state, and local regulations.
What You Need
Education: Bachelor s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
Experience: Minimum 4-6 years of experience in benefits administration or a related HR role.
Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of benefits compliance (ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, ERISA).
- Familiarity with benefit plans including PPOs, EPOs, HSAs, FSAs, and retirement accounts.
Skills:
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and HRIS or benefits platforms (e.g., Workday, ADP).
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with benefits platforms or third-party administrators (Workday, Benefitfocus, Aptia, Guardian).
- HR or benefits-related certification (e.g., CEBS, SHRM-CP, PHR) is a plus.
Compensation can differ depending on factors including location, role, skill set, education, and experience. Role
Location:
Remote. Compensation Range: $60,000-$90,000.
Full-time, regular employees accrue up to 16 days of paid vacation per year, 6 days of paid sick leave per year (pro-rated for new hires), 10 paid holidays, and are eligible for paid bereavement leave. They are eligible for medical, dental, and vision insurance, and for company-paid basic life insurance, accidental death and disability insurance, and short- and long-term disability benefits.
Regular employees may purchase additional voluntary short-term disability benefits, participate in a Health Savings Account (HSA) and a Flexible Spending Account (FSA). Some locations offer quarterly incentive-based bonuses or commissions. Benefits offerings vary by location (e.g., Puerto Rico).
All US employees who work in a state or locality with more generous paid sick leave benefits will receive those benefits where applicable.
