Talent Manager, HR Manager, Employee Relations, Regulatory Compliance Specialist
Hinckley Allen is seeking a Human Resources Manager to join our team in either our Boston, MA, Hartford, CT, or Providence, RI offices. This role supports the Director of Human Resources in the management of the human resources department and daily HR functions on a firm wide basis. This includes oversight of, but is not limited to, benefit administration, policy and procedure development, implementation and enforcement, employment law compliance, support staff recruiting and training, compensation analysis, evaluation systems, and personnel management.
This role also supports the maintenance of the human resource information system (HRIS), in addition to other systems supported by the HR team. This position serves as technical point of contact for assigned functional areas and is responsible for data integrity, system changes, report writing and analysis. Additionally, this position supervises 2 members of the HR team.
- Recruits, interviews, hires and trains new staff in the department.
- Oversees the daily workflow of the department with focus on efficiency and process improvements.
- Provides constructive and timely feedback on performance.
- Handles disciplinary issues in partnership with the Director of HR and firm policy.
- Participates in developing department goals, objectives and systems in alignment with Firm strategic plans.
- Partners with employees, management and senior leadership team to communicate various human resource policies, procedures, laws and standards; develops and administers various human resources plans and procedures for all firm personnel.
- Provides support and guidance to Managers, Senior Management, Executive Committee and legal professionals when complex, specialized or sensitive issues arise.
- Manages talent acquisition process for non-legal personnel which may include recruitment, interviewing and hiring of qualified job applicants, particularly for managerial, exempt and professional roles.
- Supports and maintains the human resource information system (HRIS) in conjunction with the HR Generalist. Responsible for the creation and maintenance of all data in the HRIS system.
- In conjunction with the Director of Human Resources, administers the leave process for all STD, LTD, PFML and FMLA leaves. Track absences and work with and support managers and employees throughout the process from start to finish.
- Completes various compensation and benefit surveys the Firm participates in; analyzes results once provided in conjunction with Director of Human Resources.
- Assists the Director of Human Resources during benefits renewal and carrier selection. Oversees and assists the Benefits Administrator with the annual open enrollment process.
- Analyzes trends in compensation and benefits; researches and prepares salary ranges for base and incentive pay for all non-legal positions annually; prepares compensation spreadsheets at review time for all non-legal departments.
- Responsible for creation and distribution of compensation statements for all non-legal staff.
- Oversee the Firm’s annual performance review process. Implements annual updates to the performance management system and provides training to users. Provides support to managers when conducting evaluation meetings.
- Oversee employee disciplinary meetings, investigations, terminations and documentation.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommends best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Seeks educational opportunities to maintain and improve knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes and new technologies in human resources.
- Additional duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Information Technology or a related field and approximately 7+ years of relevant work experience.
- Previous experience working in a law firm or the professional services industry.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills necessary to communicate with a diverse group of attorneys and staff.
