As Assistant Executive Housekeeper, you will ensure the operation of the Housekeeping Department in an attentive, friendly, efficient, and courteous manner, providing guests with high‑quality service and a clean, safe environment while efficiently managing expenses and maximizing service levels.
Responsibilities- Maintain courteous, friendly, and helpful interactions with all guests, managers, and colleagues.
- Respond to all guest requests, problems, complaints, and accidents presented through reservations, comment cards, letters, and phone calls in a courteous and efficient manner, ensuring follow‑up for guest satisfaction.
- Motivate, coach, counsel, and discipline all Housekeeping personnel according to Highgate Hotel SOPs.
- Ensure compliance to Standard of the Week training and other departmental training standards.
- Maintain a regularly scheduled cleaning program (floor care, hard cleaning, mattress flipping, etc.) and detailed checklists for each position.
- Assist in maintaining and controlling all housekeeping equipment and supplies.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with corporate Risk Management standards (MSDS, Haz Comm, etc.).
- Assist in conducting monthly guest supplies and cleaning supplies inventories.
- Ensure that large guestroom turns are managed efficiently and that consistency is maintained in opening and closing procedures.
- Carry a pager at all times and prepare daily room inspections and staff communication.
- Conduct pre‑shift meetings for room attendants and housemen.
- Respond to emergency situations using information contained in MSD sheets; keep MSD sheets current and easily available.
- Balance and clear room status nightly, comparing the P.M. housekeeping report with the PMS room status report and resolving discrepancies.
- Assist the Director of Housekeeping in inspecting VIP rooms prior to arrival.
- Ensure public areas, guest rooms, and back‑of‑house areas are cleaned to Highgate Hotel standards.
- Maintain key control, lost‑and‑found procedures, and a professional working relationship with all departments.
- Monitor work orders and submit to Engineering according to hotel procedures, following up for completion.
- Assist in preparing employee schedules according to business forecasts and payroll requirements.
- Maintain high standards of personal appearance, grooming, and compliance with Highgate Hotel standards.
- Participate in M.O.D. coverage as required and maintain regular attendance.
- Document all housekeeping inventories, supplies, and operational reports on a timely basis.
- Ensure overall guest satisfaction through attentive, friendly, and service‑oriented interactions.
- At least 2 years of progressive experience in a hotel or related field; alternatively a 4‑year college degree or a 2‑year college degree with 1 year of related experience.
- Supervisory experience required.
- Proficiency in Windows, approved spreadsheets, and word processing.
- Ability to work long hours; capable of exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and up to 20 pounds frequently.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; capable of listening, clarifying concerns, and maintaining confidentiality.
- Strong multitasking and prioritization skills; able to work under tight deadlines.
- Attentive, friendly, courteous, and service‑oriented attitude toward guests and employees.
- Participation in required meetings and trainings.
- Maintenance of high standards of personal appearance, grooming, and compliance with hotel standards.
- Comfortable handling of problems, anticipating and identifying solutions as necessary.
- Ability to understand complex information from various sources to meet objectives.
- Capability to handle confidential information and perform other duties as requested by management.
