Job Summary

Responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of patients, staff, visitors, and the environment by preventing accidents, promoting a safe work environment, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.

Qualifications
  • Develop, implement, and update safety policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections of the workplace to identify potential hazards, unsafe practices, and non-compliance with safety standards.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, near-misses, and safety-related incidents to determine root causes and develop corrective action plans.
  • Monitor compliance with safety regulations, codes, and standards, such as OSHA regulations, NFPA 101 Life Safety Code, NFPA 99 Healthcare Facilities Code, and The Massachusetts State Building Code.
  • Perform pre-construction risk assessments, along with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Develop and implement emergency response plans, including evacuation procedures and fire safety plans.
  • Routinely liaise with local authorities having jurisdiction for building inspections and permitting related to construction, fire, and life safety.
Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledgeable of local, state, and national safety regulations and standards.
  • Knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Act and relevant industry regulations and guidelines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills to identify potential hazards, assess risks, and develop effective safety strategies.
  • Keen eye for detail to identify potential safety hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Strong leadership qualities to effectively educate and motivate employees to adhere to safety guidelines.
  • Ability to adapt to changing situations and work in diverse environments.
Education

Minimum of an Associate's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Fire Safety, Construction Safety, or related field;
Bachelor's degree highly preferred.

Licenses and Credentials

CSP, CHST, OSHA 30 Hour preferred

Experience

Safety-related experience 2-3 years required; experience working in a healthcare environment highly preferred.
