** Job Summary
** Summary  Responsible for overseeing and coordinating phlebotomy procedures within a healthcare facility. This role is also responsible for serving as a laboratory liaison to patients, nursing personnel, and staff, and assures excellence in quality and safety of blood collection and analysis.
Essential Functions  
-Obtains quality blood samples using a variety of phlebotomy methods for all age groups.
-Ensures accurate patient identification, quality specimen labeling, processing, handling, and transportation of specimens.
-May assist in the recovery of patients experiencing adverse reactions and provide a rapid response to medical emergencies in the inpatient setting.
-Communicates effectively with patients and patient care teams, explaining procedures and addressing patient concerns to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction.
-May assume charge responsibilities or other tasks from the Lead Phlebotomist, as assigned.
-Oversees staff training and competency assessments, ensuring proper documentation.
-Troubleshot complex issues in collaboration with other departments and reviewed quality control and reports as assigned.
-Handles sharps and biohazardous materials in accordance with regulatory requirements to ensure the safety of patients and staff.
-Works fluently with computer programs and systems, and complies with HIPAA regulations.
-Performs other tests, administration, and specimen collection as assigned.
