Pathology Laboratory Assistant II Per Diem

Overview

Summary:

Performs a variety of clerical and technical duties under general supervision. Reports to a Laboratory Supervisor. Responsibilities include receipt, accessioning, centrifugation, and decanting of patient specimens, as well as communicating with clinicians at the Front Window and over the phone.

• Assist with labeling, preservation, and fixation of specimens
• Work closely with technologists to ensure specimens are processed timely and accurately
• Monitor reagent and supply inventory
• Organize patient specimens and assay worksheets/printouts for testing and technologist review
• Use LIMS to upload documents and input critical data or comments
• Clean and maintain lab equipment

High School Diploma or Equivalent required

Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No

Previous laboratory, healthcare and/or customer service experience 1-2 years required

• Good interpersonal and communication skills so as to be able to interact effectively with individuals in the lab and the hospital.
• Ability to multitask and work accurately under stress of time constraints and heavy workload demands.
• Demonstrates excellent dependability, reliability, accuracy, prioritization ability, problem solving skills, customer service and teamwork.
