Overview

Working under the direction of licensed personnel, assists patients with activities of daily living tasks such as bathing, dressing, and eating. Also assists with taking patients’ temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration.

Does this position require Patient Care? Yes

• Performs vital signs, weights/heights, intakes, and outputs with accuracy and within established time frame and/or as requested.
• Completes all documentation in the medical record as required.
• Interacts with patients and their families effectively.
• Helps patients with basic hygiene tasks, including bathing and dressing, assisting with toilet needs, and feeding when required.
• Assists with turning and repositioning patients in bed and helps them move between the bed and a wheelchair if needed.
• Listens to health concerns from patients and reports them to the nurses.

• Education:
  
  High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.
• Licenses and Credentials:
  Basic Life Support (BLS) – Generic – HR Only preferred.
• Experience:
  
  Patient Care Experience 0-1 year preferred.
• Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Understands the role in providing patient care activities and uses hospital policies and procedures in care delivery.
  • Communicates effectively with staff and all members of the interdisciplinary health care team.
  • Communicates effectively with patients and their significant others in providing patient care.
