Job Summary

This is a Part‑time role. The Center for Addiction Medicine is hiring a Clinical Research Coordinator who will work independently under the general supervision of the Center Program Director and/or the study Principal Investigator(s). The coordinator will support multi‑year clinical research studies at CAM and will serve as the primary research coordinator on a community‑based trial, working both in the lab and at data collection sites outside of MGH.

Responsibilities include patient scheduling and recruitment, administration of psychiatric scales and neuropsychological testing protocols, monitoring adverse events, managing data entry and database quality assurance, and handling administrative duties related to study protocols.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Collects and organizes patient data.
  • Maintains records and databases.
  • Uses software programs to generate graphs and reports.
  • Assists with recruiting patients for clinical trials.
  • Obtains patient study data from medical records, physicians, etc.
  • Conducts library searches.
  • Verifies accuracy of study forms.
  • Updates study forms per protocol.
  • Documents patient visits and procedures.
  • Assists with regulatory binders and QA/QC procedures.
  • Assists with interviewing study subjects.
  • Administers and scores questionnaires.
  • Provides basic explanation of study and, in some cases, obtains informed consent from subjects.
  • Performs study procedures, which may include phlebotomy.
  • Assists with study regulatory submissions.
  • Writes consent forms.
  • Verifies subject inclusion/exclusion criteria.
  • Performs administrative support duties as required.
  • Clinical Research Coordinator II adds additional duties such as maintaining research data, performing data analysis and QA/QC checks, organizing and interpreting data, developing and implementing recruitment strategies, serving as a study resource for patients and families, monitoring lab and procedure data, evaluating study questionnaires, contributing to protocol recommendations, assisting with preparation of annual reviews, and helping the PI prepare complete study reports.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree required.

Experience: New graduates with relevant course/project work or no prior research experience will be considered for the Clinical Research Coordinator I position. Those with a minimum of 1–2 years of directly related work experience will be considered for the Clinical Research Coordinator II position.
