Position Summary
Under the direction of the Outpatient Pharmacy Supply Chain Manager and Supervisor, and in accordance with department policies and procedures, the individual is responsible for supporting all aspects of inventory management for outpatient, retail, and mail‑order pharmacy pharmaceuticals, Durable Medical Equipment Prost్లు Orthotics and Supplies (DMEPOS), and maintaining pharmacy medication and associated supplies. Duties include receiving daily medication orders from vendors, monitoring inventory levels, rotating stock, and utilizing the return process to ensure proper credit from drug wholesalers.

Responsibilities / Duties
  • Validate and process inven­tory DC shipments by reviewing for accuracy and ensuring proper storage conditions.
  • Facilitate the management of medication inventories: keep drug products within date, rotate inventory as necessary, store within USP guidelines, and stock daily wholesaler deliveries accurately.
  • Maintain all medication shelves and storage areas in a clean, organized, and orderly fashion.
  • Process all drug returns promptly within the necessary management system.
  • Adjust inventory levels as needed when returns are processed.
  • Ensure packaged returns meet manufacturer and wholesaler shipping requirements.
  • Review invoices to reconcile credits processed.
  • Maintain compliance with DSCSA requirements related to order receiving, exception handling, transfer of inventory, and return of medications to vendors.
  • Handle Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP) transmissions and Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) files (importing and exporting drug inventory files) and verify successful transmission.
  • Identify faults in EDI transmissions and alert management to discuss correction plans.
  • Identify affected medication recalls, reconcile inventory, and report to regulatory supervisors as appropriate.
  • Conduct follow‑up calls for problematic medication deliveries from wholesalers.
  • Track dropship medications throughout the health system and maintain supporting documentation (e.g., packing slips).
  • Report incorrect shipments and other safety issues to the supervisor immediately.

    General cycle counts of inventory on a regular basis to investigate and rectify discrepancies.
  • Execute returns of expired non‑controlled medications via the reverse distributor.
  • Remain informed by reading all department communications.

Education & Requirements
  • Required:

    High school diploma or equivalent and strong mathematical skills.
  • Preferred:
    Some college, associate’s or bachelor's degree.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  • Required:

    Registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the Massachusetts Board of Pharmacy.
  • Required:

    National pharmacy technician certification from PTCB or exCPT.
Experience
  • At least 3–4 years of related experience (shipping, receiving, material handling, or maintaining inventory is preferred).
Knowledge & Skills
  • Speak, read, and interpret English language and follow complex instructions.
  • Work independently to accomplish daily tasks consistently and on time.
  • Familiarity with 340B and Wholesale Acquisition Cost (WAC) ordering.
  • Experience with QS1 – NRX or similar outpatient pharmacy operating system.
  • Experience with Arxium, Parata, Script Pro, or similar medication automation systems.
