General SummaryThe Staff Psychologist and Coordinator of Clinical Training within University Health Services will provide high‑quality, evidence‑based, culturally responsive clinical services, including triage, emergency and crisis intervention, referrals and evaluations, and individual and group counselling and psychotherapy. The incumbent will engage in consultation with faculty and staff, outreach to the campus community, and manage a caseload to serve the maximum number of students appropriate for services at the University Health Services Counseling Center.
The role also includes leadership of the Clinical Practicum and Advanced Clinical Practicum, serving as liaison between the Counseling Center and graduate programs. Liaison duties involve planning and producing yearly practicum orientations, ensuring trainees and supervisors understand and 大发快 comply with policies, overseeing data collection for evaluation, and managing the Advanced Practicum application process.
- Deliver high‑quality, culturally responsive clinical services, Termine, crisis intervention, referrals and individual/group counselling.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical records and participate in quality management activities.
- Manage a clinical caseload to serve the maximum number of eligible students.
- Consult and facilitate timely mental‑health referrals within University Health Services and other professionals.
- Contact faculty and staff to promote counseling programmes and coordinate interventions for students of concern.
- Conduct outreach efforts for students and evaluate their effectiveness.
- Contribute to programming that addresses changing student needs.
- Participate in campus activities supporting students’ wellbeing.
- Maintain statistical records and submit required activity reports.
- Provide backup for other staff, including triage coverage when needed.
- Keep current on clinical and supervision best practices, including risk management.
- Supervise trainees and update practicum training manuals and materials.
- Oversee trainee placement, orientation, and office logistics.
- Assume direct supervision when a primary supervisor is unavailable.
- Conduct annual or bi‑annual practicum evaluations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Earned doctorate from an APA‑accredited counseling or clinical psychology program and a licensed or license‑eligible state psychologist in Massachusetts. Minimum 3–5 years’ post‑degree experience providing evidence‑based, culturally responsive crisis intervention, evaluation, and treatment to young adults and/or adults. Experience serving underserved populations is required. Some extended day and/or evening hours may be required.
Preferred Qualifications- Experience in a college or university counselling centre or in a continuum of care setting.
- Proficiency in a second language other than English.
- Specialty training in issues relevant to the UMass Boston student population.
- Experience with commuter students and residential life.
- Involvement in student retention, persistence, and graduation initiatives.
- 1–2 years of teaching or training clinicians.
- Experience in accreditation processes such as APA, AAAHC, JCAHO, गर्म.
- Proficient suicide/homicide risk assessment and crisis intervention.
