Hours:
Monday-Friday, 7:30am - 10:00pm; weekends 8:00am - 4:30pm.
Pharmacy Operations is responsible for the safe, efficient and effective coordination of Cardinal Health's pharmacy operations that service acute care hospitals, hospital retail customers, ambulatory care and alternate site facilities, oncology and cardiology practices as well as retail customers.
Health System Pharmacy provides customized pharmacy program solutions that reduce costs and improve patient care quality for hospitals, health systems and other integrated healthcare providers. It may also consult with and advise healthcare teams on prescribed medications, supplies and related processes.
Job SummaryCardinal Health manages the pharmacy at Lemuel Shattuck Hospital and is recruiting for a Clinical Pharmacist. This pharmacist will work closely with medical staff to ensure safe, effective, and appropriate drug therapy while supporting daily operational responsibilities including order verification, inventory management, and medication dispensing.
Responsibilities- Review, process and monitor patient medication orders to evaluate appropriateness of use, dosage form, route of administration, regimen compliance, therapeutic duplication, drug interactions, adverse reactions and age appropriateness.
- Participate in multidisciplinary rounds for a variety of patient populations.
- Check technician‑prepared or prepare for dispensing all medications for patient specific use.
- Assist with drug procurement and inventory maintenance.
- Assist with precepting experiential education students from Schools of Pharmacy.
- Review non‑formulary requests and prepare formulary reviews as needed for Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.
- Participate in performance improvement activities using evidence‑based practice; implement clinical initiatives (therapeutic interchange, renal dosing, ADR reporting) with regard to efficacy, safety, and cost effectiveness.
- Participate in Drug Utilization Evaluation program, Quality Improvement projects and prepare summary reports.
- Provide subject matter expertise to medical residents and medical staff.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or requested by the Director of Pharmacy.
- Demonstrate respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy or Pharm
D required. - Must be a “good standing” licensed Pharmacist in the state of Massachusetts.
- Prior Hospital/Inpatient pharmacy experience preferred.
- Board certified in Pharmacology preferred.
- Completion of an ASHP‑accredited PGY1 Pharmacy Residency preferred.
- Ability to hear, write, and speak clearly to communicate with customers and health care professionals.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Flexibility to work various shifts and on‑call as needed.
- Vendor credentialing may be required.
- Apply working knowledge in the application of concepts, principles, and technical capabilities to perform varied tasks.
- Work on projects of moderate scope and complexity.
- Identify possible solutions to a variety of technical problems and take actions to resolve.
- Apply judgment within defined parameters.
- Receive general guidance or more detailed instruction on new projects.
- Work reviewed for sound reasoning and accuracy.
$56.10 per hour - $72.27 per hour.
