Overview

Mass General Brigham Medical Group, Inc. invites candidates to apply for a full‑time, 37.5‑hour Medical Assistant, Urgent Care position located at 137 Stuart Street, Boston, MA. The role supports a high‑volume, 7‑day‑per‑week Urgent Care team delivering timely, compassionate care to adults and children ages 3 and up. The schedule includes three 12.5‑hour shifts per week, alternating weekends, on‑call coverage, and flexibility for overtime.

Responsibilities
  • Assist junior Medical Assistants with day‑to‑day questions and onboarding training.
  • Show patients to examination rooms, prepare equipment, and interview patients to obtain medical history.
  • Measure vital signs, weight, height, and record information in the electronic medical record (EHR).
  • Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets, and physician instructions to patients; organize educational materials.
  • Perform general office duties such as answering phones, taking dictation, completing insurance forms, and liaising with other departments.
  • Collect, log, and prepare laboratory specimens; perform phlebotomy when competence is demonstrated.
  • Maintain immunization inventory and check expiration dates; provide immunizations under provider supervision when required.
  • Participate in departmental quality initiatives, including patient identification, hand hygiene, and process improvement.
Qualifications
  • Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent required;
    Associate’s Degree in Medical Assisting preferred.
  • Licenses and Credentials: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred;
    National Medical Assistant certification preferred (AAMA, AMT, NHA, or NCCT).
  • Experience: 1‑2 years direct Medical Assistant experience or medical field work required.

    Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to prioritize tasks in a complex environment; accuracy and attention to detail; proficiency in EHR systems and medical office software; ability to take vital signs, manual blood pressure, and collect specimens; comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology and protocols; compliance with privacy and confidentiality regulations; logical and reasoning skills; time‑management skills.
